The Illinois waterpark Magic Waters will come under the management of the world’s largest regional theme park operator as from 2019.

Six Flags Entertainment is expected to sign a lease agreement with the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners that will allow it to operate the 43-acre waterpark. Located in the city of Rockford, the park sits just over an hour west of the Six Flags Great America theme park and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor waterpark in Gurnee near Chicago. When the lease begins, Six Flags Gold season pas holders and members will be allowed access to all three properties, as well as free parking and special offers for friends.

Owned by the Rockford Park District since 1988, Magic Waters features a wide array of tube slides and body slides, an expansive children’s play area, a 1,200ft lazy river and Tsunami Bay, Illinois’ largest wave pool.

“Partnering with Six Flags means great things for our community and will enhance the experience for local families looking for affordable family fun,” says Rockford Park District executive director, Jay Sandine. “Six Flags will continue to make capital investments in the waterpark, which frees up District resources to invest in our communities’ priorities such as parks, playgrounds and youth.”
