In its latest development in its global expansion programme, Therme Group, creators of advanced wellbeing resorts around the world, has announced plans to build a £250m wellbeing resort in Ontario Place, Canada.

The organisation is working with the government of Ontario and the City of Toronto to develop the year-round wellbeing destination. The resort will contribute to the redevelopment of Ontario Place, and Therme Group’s aim to bring wellbeing to everyone.

Therme Canada will be a family-friendly experience with indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, a wave pool, as well as natural spaces to relax and undergo sports performance and recovery services. The destination will also be home to luxury botanical gardens.

The resort will offer fun and healthy activities for all ages, and affordable wellness therapies to cater for all requirements. Guests will also be able to enjoy healthy and sustainable food and drink.

Therme Canada will be located at the waterfront property, Ontario Place, which has historically been a destination for recreation, entertainment and leisure.

Dr. Robert Hanea, CEO of Therme Group, commented on the aim of the organisation and of Therme Canada: “Therme is a unique, all-season experience: It’s a natural urban oasis where people can have fun, relax and unwind from their busy lives – boosting their physical and mental health. Bringing this offering to both the UK with Therme Manchester, and now Canada with Therme Canada | Ontario Place, further progresses us in our journey of bringing wellbeing to all.

“Through technology and engaging with the community, Therme Group and our partners will add a new architectural landmark to these cities, whilst boosting the wellbeing of the local community it serves,” Dr. Hanea added.

It is expected that Therme Canada will create more than 2,200 construction jobs, as well as 800 full time permanent positions. The destination is estimated to bring in excess of 1.6 million visitors to Ontario Place every year.
