Merlin Entertainments Invests £2 Million in Green Energy Projects, Driving Sustainable Change

Merlin Entertainments, a global leader in branded entertainment destinations, celebrates a milestone year in sustainability with its Green Energy Capex programme, part of its More to Your World ESG strategy. The 2024 initiative delivered substantial energy savings, underscoring Merlin’s commitment to environmental stewardship and energy efficiency.

In 2024, Merlin invested £2 million across 50 sustainability-focused projects, achieving annual energy savings of 3,924 MWh—the equivalent of powering 8,077 rotations of the London Eye. These projects not only reduce carbon emissions but also benefit local businesses and communities through energy-efficient and sustainable practices.

Highlights of the 2024 Green Energy Capex Programme
  • SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord: Installation of an energy-efficient pump system that improves efficiency, reduces noise, and creates a better environment for marine animals.
  • LEGOLAND® Korea: On-site solar photovoltaic (PV) systems were introduced, enhancing renewable energy generation and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
  • Gardaland Resort: Upgraded to advanced LED lighting systems, achieving significant energy savings while enhancing the visitor experience with modern, sustainable lighting.
