Pharrell Williams is a successful celebrity in many lines of work. And the Grammy Award winner is set to take on a new job: as ‘Wave Pool Developer’ for the upcoming Atlantic Surf Park project.

The celebrity has strong links with the area and will sprinkle some of his tinsel town dust on the entertainment project.

Phase 1 of construction is expected to culminate with an expected opening date this summer.

The facility will include shops, entertainment venues and houses.

“Opening in early Summer 2025, Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach will introduce the USA’s first Wavegarden Cove and a $350 million mixed-use entertainment complex, in partnership with Virginia Beach native Pharrell Williams,” stated Wavegarden.

“Set to transform the 10.35-acre site of the former Virginia Beach Dome, the park will include a compact 2.67-acre (approximately 10,800 m²) Wavegarden Cove (46 modules), a live entertainment venue, modern offices, residences, and unique shopping and dining options, establishing a year-round coastal destination.”

Wavegarden Cove operates in 70 countries around the world yet this will be the first one in the United States.

“Our goal has always been to provide surfers around the world with the most authentic and best waves possible,’ states Wavegarden’s CCO Fernando Odriozola.

“Our team has worked tirelessly to perfect our technology and we can’t wait for surfers of all skill levels to experience it first-hand in Virginia Beach.”
