Akins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has been given a three-year contract with the Qiddiya theme park. The contract was awarded by the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), the driving force behind the Qiddiya development, which is home to Saudi Arabia’s most ground-breaking experiences in entertainment, sports and the arts.

Atkins will provide integrated lead design consultation supervision, and cost management services for the theme park.

The Six Flags Qiddiya theme park is due to open during the first phase of Qiddiya, Saudi Arabia’s ‘Capital of Entertainment, Sports and Arts.’

The theme park will cover an area of 79 acres and be home to 28 distinctly themed rides and attractions over six different lands. The lands include The City of Thrills, Discovery Springs, Steam Town, Twilight Gardens, Valley of Fortune and Grand Exposition. The theme park will also feature the world longest, tallest and fastest rollercoaster, The Falcon’s Flight.

Cris Dedigama, CEO of Atkins Middle East & Africa, engineering, design and project management at SNC-Lavalin, commented: This win is a testament to our proven track record for delivering flagship projects worldwide, and market-focused approach to a dynamic and sustainable business growth in the Middle East.

We are proud to work with Qiddiya on this one-of-a-kind project that supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the acceleration of the country’s economic diversification agenda,” Dedigama continued.
