UK family entertainment centre operator DP Leisure (DPL) has continued the expansion of its 360 Play family play centre brand with the opening of its fifth location, this time in a shopping centre in Redditch, Worcestershire.

The company already operates successful sites in Milton Keynes, Stevenage, Leicester and Basildon and has continued the roll out of what is one of the UK’s leading family play centre brands by opening its first venue within a shopping centre location, Redditch’s Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

As with the existing sites, design and master planning of this latest project was carried out by DPL’s sister company, DP Associates (DPA), who also project managed the build.

Housed within a 12,000sq.ft unit among the shopping centre’s retail outlets, this latest 360 Play venture is a departure from the norm as far as the location is concerned, with all the other 360 Play venues being sited on leisure parks or similar.

The site is home to a diverse range of retail stores and food and beverage outlets and the addition of 360 Play will bring a whole new offer to the centre as a retail and leisure destination for families.

The newest 360 Play venue follows the company’s successful entertainment formula with a wide range of activities for all young children, from toddlers up to age 12. Everything included is designed so that adults can join in too and engage with their children through play, ensuring the centre offers a true family day out.

Among the attractions are a central, two-storey play structure from the Soft Brick Company, bumper cars and a carousel from IE Park/SOLI Bumper Cars, and the 360 Street creative play zone, a key feature at all 360 Play sites designed and built by the DPL team.

The creative play zone is made up of individual play units such as a supermarket, pizza parlour, vets and pets, fire station, car garage/body shop and dressing up shop, and is designed to stimulate the creativity in young minds.

It also provides an ideal opportunity for parents to get involved in play with their children. A party zone offering a dedicated area for children’s parties is also available, along with a toddler zone, messy play area, café and numerous seating areas.

“We are thrilled to open our fifth 360 Play site and are particularly excited to have created our latest venture in a shopping centre location, which is a big move away from the type of site we would normally operate on,” said managing director Duncan Phillips.

“It’s something totally new for us but the retail experience today is changing in many ways so we see it as a great opportunity for ourselves and the shopping centre owner Capital and Regional to create a new experience for visitors and a genuine retail and leisure destination.

“We believe our store will complement what is already available and will become a popular element of a visit for families with young children.”
