With the opening of Six Flags Qiddiya City on December 31, three major attractions from Intamin have entered operation, immediately redefining the upper limits of roller-coaster scale, performance and engineering execution.
Rather than incremental development, the brief at Qiddiya demanded step-change innovation: record-breaking dimensions, uncompromising ride systems and absolute confidence in delivery. The result is a tightly focused trio of attractions – Falcons Flight, Spitfire and Skywatch – that underline Intamin’s role as a trusted technical partner on one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever undertaken.
Falcons Flight
World records by design
Falcons Flight is not simply large; it is unprecedented. At 4,325 metres in length, 195 metres in height and a top speed of 250 km/h, it becomes – simultaneously – the world’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster.
Such figures place extraordinary demands on structure, track geometry, rolling stock and propulsion. Intamin’s latest-generation LSM launch system, the most powerful currently deployed in the industry, provides the sustained acceleration required over an extended ride time of 3 minutes 35 seconds, while maintaining precise control across extreme speed ranges.
Train aerodynamics were a central engineering focus. The shaping of the vehicles and integrated windshields is designed to manage airflow at very high velocities, improving rider comfort, reducing turbulence and supporting long-term operational reliability – a critical factor on a ride of this scale.

Spitfire
Compact scale, maximum intensity
Where Falcons Flight demonstrates scale, Spitfire showcases density of experience. Rising 73 metres above the park skyline, the triple-launch coaster features the world’s tallest inversion, delivered within a tightly engineered footprint.
Powered by Intamin’s LSM technology, Spitfire reaches 127 km/h, using a sequence of launches combined with Fast Switch technology and a vertical spike. This configuration enables repeated acceleration, controlled rollback moments and a high-impact inverted top-hat finale, maximising airtime and weightlessness.
A notable technical detail is the disparity between physical and experienced track length: while the steel track measures 582 metres, riders experience approximately 901 metres of motion, achieved through multi-directional launches and reversals – an efficient use of space that delivers a long-form ride sensation.

Skywatch
Precision engineering for panoramic capacity
Completing the trio is Skywatch, a custom Flying Island designed to balance the park’s high-intensity hardware with a high-capacity, observational attraction.
Rising smoothly to 45 metres and accommodating approximately 100 guests per cycle, Skywatch provides uninterrupted 360-degree views across the park – including direct sightlines to Falcons Flight and Spitfire in motion – while maintaining gentle, highly controlled ride dynamics.
Its tent-inspired canopy structure is engineered both as a visual landmark and as an integrated component of the ride system, ensuring stability and guest comfort in an exposed, elevated environment.

A technical benchmark
Together, Falcons Flight and Spitfire account for four world records, but the broader significance lies in execution. Delivering attractions of this scale at opening requires not only innovation in ride systems, but confidence in manufacturing, installation, commissioning and long-term operation.
For Six Flags Qiddiya City, these three Intamin attractions establish an immediate technical benchmark. For Intamin, they reinforce a long-standing reputation as a partner capable of translating extreme ambition into reliable, operational reality – even when the brief is to go further, faster and higher than ever before.
