Steam-powered thrills and a spectacular splashdown at Six Flags Qiddiya City
Among the many headline attractions at Six Flags Qiddiya City, the family-thrill water coaster Saw Mill Falls brings a refreshing mix of speed, spectacle and classic amusement-park drama to the park’s industrial-themed Steam Town district. Built by Mack Rides, the attraction combines roller coaster dynamics with the visual excitement of a traditional splash ride, creating an experience that is both accessible and highly photogenic.
Located within Steam Town – a zone inspired by the sights, sounds and machinery of a bygone industrial age – Saw Mill Falls sits naturally among towering steel structures, turning gears and the rhythmic pulse of steam-powered engineering. The district celebrates the romance of heavy industry and invention, and the ride’s sawmill setting fits seamlessly into this narrative. Timber stacks, mechanical saws and industrial architecture frame the attraction, evoking the atmosphere of an old working mill powered by water and steam.
The ride itself is a custom Mack water coaster, reaching a height of around 22.5 metres and racing along approximately 785 metres of track. Trains of eight-passenger boats climb the lift hill before diving into a twisting series of turns and drops that blend steel coaster track with water-ride elements. With a top speed approaching 74 km/h, Saw Mill Falls delivers a lively but family-friendly level of thrill, designed to appeal to a broad audience within the park’s attraction mix.
After cresting the lift hill, riders are treated to sweeping views across the bustling landscape of Steam Town before plunging into a fast-paced sequence of curves and dips that build anticipation for the finale. The ride’s hybrid layout allows the vehicles to transition smoothly between coaster track and water channel, maintaining momentum as the story unfolds.
The climax arrives with a dramatic final descent into the splash pool. Here, the boats hit the water at speed, sending a towering plume of spray skyward and creating the kind of crowd-pleasing moment that draws spectators as much as riders. The splashdown not only provides a refreshing finale for guests on board but also adds a dynamic visual centrepiece to the surrounding area, with onlookers gathering along nearby pathways to witness – and occasionally share in – the soaking.
Saw Mill Falls plays an important role by delivering a classic theme-park spectacle: a fast, visually striking attraction that combines storytelling, engineering and water-borne excitement in equal measure.
