The Dutch amusement park Slagharen will celebrate its 55th anniversary in 2018 with the unveiling of a new entrance. This will be complemented by several other infrastructure improvements and fresh entertainment.

“After a dazzling season in 2017 with the opening of the spectacular Gold Rush rollercoaster and 91 Raccoon Lodges we thought we it would be a quiet winter for us,” says park director Wouter Dekkers. “But nothing is less true. With a range of new projects, we are going to have a fantastic anniversary year.”

Reinforcing Slagharen’s Wild West theme, the new entry portal will offer a warm welcome and the starting point for an adventurous day in the park. Visitors will arrive at the entrance via a new pedestrian tunnel, replacing the former bridge over the Zwarte Dijk. This is a long-cherished wish of the park and will increase safety. Meanwhile there will be improvements to the parking area, including new spaces for buses and a “Kiss & Ride” area for dropping off/collecting guests.

The entertainment programme for 2018 has been renewed. Randy & Rosie get their own show, and in the American Circus Theater international artists will perform spectacular, humorous and fascinating acts. In El Teatro there’s a new film for guests to enjoy. Looney Tunes 4D features an exciting chase between Wile E Coyote and Road Runner, together with lots of fun effects. There will also be a new welcome show, kids club, sing-a-long and family game show nights, sports lessons, yoga and more.

Free WiFi is to be rolled out across the park for 2018, with the exception of Slagharen’s camp sites. The season starts on Friday, March 16.
