Denmark’s largest summer park has begun building anticipation for its next major attraction, with Midgårdsormen set to expand Vikingeland in 2027.
Djurs Sommerland has officially confirmed that Midgårdsormen will open in 2027, marking the next major addition to the Danish park’s Vikingeland themed area. While the operator is keeping most details under wraps, construction is already under way and the attraction is being positioned as a significant investment for the 2027 season.
The park has launched a dedicated project page showing construction photographs and inviting guests to follow the development as new information is released. Promotional material describes an ancient force stirring beneath Vikingeland, drawing on Norse mythology to build anticipation ahead of the attraction’s debut.
Although Djurs Sommerland has yet to reveal the ride manufacturer or layout, the park has confirmed that the attraction is expected to carry a minimum height requirement of 120 cm. It has also announced a competition that will give nine newsletter subscribers the opportunity to become VIP test riders before the official opening in spring 2027.
The announcement continues Djurs Sommerland’s strategy of regularly investing in headline attractions. Recent additions include the 60-metre El Grito Drop Tower, which opened in 2024 and later received the Park World Excellence Award for Best New Ride in Europe. Over the past decade the park has also expanded with attractions such as DrageKongen, Juvelen and the Skatteøen water coaster, helping establish the Danish destination as one of Scandinavia’s leading regional parks.
Djurs Sommerland welcomes more than 800,000 visitors annually and has invested more than €91 million in new attractions and improvements since 2008. The park, located in eastern Jutland, is divided into nine themed lands and continues to focus on expanding its portfolio with family and thrill attractions.
More information about Midgårdsormen is expected to be released as construction progresses towards the planned 2027 opening.
