The Gold Coast in Australia has been hit by devastating storms since the new year – severely affecting visitor attractions in the resort.
Millions of pounds worth of damage has been caused by the storms to tourist attractions including Movie World and Dreamworld, which remain closed until further notice.
According to a report in The Guardian, the Queensland and federal governments have raised $250,000 in financial support funds available to businesses and primary producers to replace damaged assets such as plant and equipment or to maintain liquidity.
The Australian defence force is to be called in this week to aid the recovery operation.
The storms have also left many residents without the usage of power as the sheer scale of the storms began to take effect.
Such has been the effect that the regional Electrical company is set to replace the entire grid.
