Rally Flåklypa has officially opened at Hunderfossen Eventyrpark near Lillehammer, adding a new media-based family dark ride to the park’s growing Flåklypa-themed area. The attraction combines a locally recognised intellectual property with trackless ride technology, immersive media and practical scenic effects in a compact indoor footprint.
Located within an existing building, Rally Flåklypa was officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by regional and international media, park guests and representatives from the municipalities of Lillehammer and Alvdal. The attraction is inspired by the latest Flåklypa animated film and follows inventor Reodor Felgen and his companions on a rally adventure from Paris to the pyramids of Egypt.
Belgian experience designer BoldMove Nation led the attraction’s concept development and theming. The company also supplied its Rogue Rides trackless vehicle system and Kamino show control platform, which synchronises media, lighting, onboard audio and special effects throughout the experience. Qvisten Animation created the media content, while Kabuki delivered scenic production and Rodco manufactured the full-scale seven-metre Il Tempo Gigante race car displayed within the attraction.
Guests begin their journey in an automated preshow before moving through themed environments inspired by the film. Six-passenger trackless vehicles then travel through a series of media-driven race scenes, enhanced by practical scenery, augmented reality moments, surround sound and onboard vibration effects. Although the attraction occupies only around 220 square metres, the layout has been designed to maximise the available space and create the impression of a much larger experience.
Hogne Høstmælingen, park director at Hunderfossen Familiepark, said: ‘BoldMove and Qvisten have successfully transformed the Flåklypa universe into an immersive experience, building the excitement from the preshow through the race up to the grand finale.’
The new attraction completes Hunderfossen’s Flåklypa zone, which already includes the Il Tempo Extra Gigante roller coaster, a 4D cinema and themed retail outlets. The project also demonstrates how established regional intellectual property can support long-term destination development when combined with modern ride systems and integrated storytelling.
