Oriental Land Company (OLC), operator of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea resorts, has unveiled a raft of new developments set to take place ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan.

“Through continued investment of about ¥50bn ($460m) annually in the large-scale development of new areas of the parks and new major attractions, as well as in enhancing the guest services and facilities, Oriental Land will continue to improve the two parks in a variety of ways,” the operator said.

Although OLC said full details of the new developments will be revealed over the coming months, the group has revealed that Tokyo Disneyland is set to witness an expansion of Fantasyland, which will include a theatre for live performances and a new area anchored by a major attraction themed around Beauty and the Beast.

In neighbouring Tomorrowland and Toontown, a new attraction and a Disney character greeting facility will be opened in each themed land.
