Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, a 29.7-hectare marine park off the coast of East China, has been given the highly prestigious title of “Best Theme Park” at the 2019 China Cultural & Tourism Development Conference (CAAPA) in Beijing.

In recognition of its scale, theming, quality, and high construction standards, the park won a “Ferris” Award from the CAAPA.

Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park opened in November 2018. Based on a theme of “Love as a Happy Ocean Journey,” the park is committed to featuring flagship tourism products centred on advanced tech and rich content, novel display forms, high levels of experience and interaction and wonderful performances.

The park was created by Legacy Entertainment, one of the world’s leading theme park and resort design companies. Legacy began working on Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park in 2013. The popular park represents the first marine attraction in the region.

In honour of receiving the award, Taylor Jeffs, president and chief creative officer of Legacy Entertainment, said:

“Working with the team at Haichang, we all shared the goal of elevating the standard of what a domestic Chinese theme park could be – and this award is a testament to our partner’s commitment to that vision.

“We hope this recognition will inspire others to reach for the same standard of animal care and guest experience that Haichang has achieved in Shanghai,” Jeffs added.
