Defiance is the highly-anticipated new roller coaster in the United States, found at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

The ride, located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, will open to the public on 9 July. Some of its main features are that it will be the highest looping roller coaster in the US and also has the steepest freefall drop in the western US.

Defiance was the original name of Glenwood Springs in 1879.

The ride is a short blast at just 56 seconds. Nonetheless, this one-of-a-kind Gerstlauer Euro-Flight roller coaster will provide a unique experience.

Once you’ve completed the 22.8-metres (75ft) vertical climb to the top of the roller coaster, you’ll experience a 102.3°, 33.5-metres (110ft) gravity-driven, freefall drop. It will also feature a 28.8-metres (98ft) twisted top hat switch, a 33.8-metres (111ft) banana roll, a 12.5-metres (41ft) Zero-G heartline-roll.

With the park situated in the mountains at an elevation 2182-metres (7,160ft), according to the park, that drop might feel even steeper. The unique setting makes for a stunning view and a picturesque backdrop to gain your thrills and take your breathe away.

“We are beyond thrilled to be working with both Gerstlauer and Ride Entertainment to make this coaster a reality,” said Nancy Heard, General Manager of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

“Defiance is sure to become instantly recognizable around the world for its incredible setting and unparalleled thrills.”
