Innovative Leisure, UK-based attractions specialist, have opened a new Sky Trail high ropes course and climbing tower at Mote Park Outdoor Adventure in Maidstone, England.

Visitors can explore two levels of high rope courses and climb up a 10-metre tall climbing tower, located above a dinosaur themed mini golf course.

A total of 47 people can go on the Sky Trail course at a time. With an overhead continuous belay system, participants can overtake on platforms, choose their own path around the course and explore at their own pace.

The 10-metre climbing tower is supported by hydraulic auto belays. A total of four climbers can push themselves to reach the top at one time.

Fran Wallis, local economy project officer for Maidstone Borough Council, spoke of the new addition to the park.

“The Sky Trail high ropes experience is exactly what we wanted in this area to bring it to life. It complements the other play offers and appeals to a wide range of age groups. We recently took part in a corporate session and it proved popular amongst my colleagues.

“The council has been very happy with the support and advice received from Innovative Leisure over the years they have been involved in designing, planning and installing the equipment. They have also assisted Serco, our operating partner, with specialist staff training,” said Wallis.

James Reynolds, Serco Leisure’s contract manager for the facility, added:

“We’re delighted with Mote Park Outdoor Adventure Zone. It’s been a pleasure supporting the council with its vision and working with the guys at Innovative Leisure to get the facility built and up and running.”

Phil Pickersgill, managing director of Innovative Leisure, commented:

“About six years ago MBC approached us with the idea of the Mote Park Outdoor Adventure area. It has been a pleasure to support them along the journey to final completion of the facility. It is also wonderful to see this open now and being enjoyed by the local community.”

Mote Park Outdoor Adventure attracts more than one million visitors a year. The Outdoor Adventure facility is part of Maidstone Borough Council’s aim to boost visitor numbers to the park.

As well as the opening of the ropes course and climbing tower, the development project includes a new playground, which was launched earlier this year. A visitor centre and café are due to open later in 2020.

Mote Park comprises of 460 acres of park with a large lake, a leisure centre and a watersports centre.
